V50 DPF Filter 'Limp Mode??'
Hi
I was wondering if someone could help me out as any advice would be appreciated. I have a Volvo V50 2.0D on a 55 plate. Recently it has been randomly going into Limp mode and once the engine was restarted after I booted itm it reset, which after reading on the sites could indicate a DPF fault. I took the car into volvo for a service and the only thing they put down was a possible DPF or sensor, which didnt really help because there were no error codes and was running fine when i took it in (not in limp mode) Within the last few days it pretty much goes into limp mode daily and unless you really boot it on the motorway it will not reset and if it does it is only for maximum 20 minutes. The concern i have is the price for this fault, reagrding a new DPF. Was wondering if this is replaced which it was at 70,000 (by Volvo) surely it should be guaranteed for when it requires again 140,000. At present the car has done 105,000, or could it be a sensor? however no managemnt code. This has become frustrating as i am in the forces and evertime i try and book it in and have to go away again. Any help would be great |

Yes DPF differential presure sensor will if failing, give limp condition.
I had two fail on within 110k miles on my car. Sensor is just left of battery and has two small pipes running down to DPF. Cost from Ford of part ( p. no. 3M5A 5L200 AB) is £99 inc Vat. Volvo is dearer although recent post has quoted cheaper. Jusr bear in mind that limp mode can be caused by other inputs to cpu, but if DPF fault has been indicated and you know that car has been serviced, ie DPF is not blocked and additive has been added at 37.5k and 75k service intervals by Volvo dealer, then go for this sensor. One last thing, when I last replaced this on my car, it took 20 miles before car went out of limp mode. Not sure why but it may be that cpu is relearning working parameters, but I can't be sure of this. Good luck. |

This is true 7050 If you change any faulty sensor but skip reseting the ECU through VIDA afterwards, then it will take some time, i.e. continuous driving for 20-30km until the car notices the change and recalculates.
