Default V50 2.0 D Gear knob removal

Hi, How do I remove the gear knob from a 2.0D 6 speed manual V50? Mine is 6 speed with reverse gear beside 1st. Watched a YouTube video on a 5 speed that shows push down and twist anti-clockwise 90 degrees, but mine just wont budge.

The pushing down and twisting method is correct. It takes a fair bit of force though, more than you'd think it would. Below is a picture of it removed, you can see at the top of the shaft, there are 2 prongs poking out that hold it on.

Many thanks, I'll give it another go.
