Default Transmission Reduced Performance warning

My 2015 XC60 D5 AWD Geartronic has done 36k miles. Fully dealer serviced last one in Sept 18.
After 250 mile mainly motorway journey Transmission Reduced Performance warning message pops up on dash and auto gear changes down at corners have become a bit jerky. Manual says "Gearbox cannot handle full capacity. Drive carefully until message clears".
Message cleared after parking up for a while and restarting engine and jerky changes also seem to have gone for now. New issue started now though - gearbox 'jolts' when changing from reverse to drive.
Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution please? I'm on holiday so getting to a dealer would be a real problem however I'm nervous about driving home 250 miles....
Thanks folks

Default Transmission Reduced Performance warning message

I got same issue on my 2015 T4 S60. I was turning right gently, got same message, tranny was felt as if it is slipping, I slowed down and parked, then it was all back to normal.

Would be great to hear any thoughts,

I was wanting to flush the tranny oil, but too many things to do and never got to do it.

My first "port of call" would be to have the gearbox serviced. The fact is has a full service history with Volvo is not really relevant as the gearbox oil change isn't specified as a service item unless its used as a taxi or towing vehicle.

Has it been serviced at all since Sept 18 as 3.5 years would be a long time without?

Gearbox is overheating normally, first thing to do is to check if there's an intercooler rad for the box and make sure it's not covered in muck, 2nd thing and probably a good idea anyway is to get the oil changed, if it has a filter change that as well, after that you're likely looking at a torque converter fault.

Thanks for your response. I connected the data logger to find the fault codes- there was one stored code P0895- shift time too short. May be a generic code. Recently all 3 rads got changed and serviced with all filters and oil changed. Could there be a leak that is causing issues?
Oil change you mean the transmission oil change? This is auto gearbox btw.
Thanks
