Oh leave it off Dave, you’re just making the Volvo seem a sensible viable option.

That's not necessarily a bad thing!

You remember the VW ad campaign - "If only everything in life was as reliable as a Volkswagen"? Why did that disappear so quickly?

I'm not saying anything about the reliability of a VW but the Advertising Standards Agency won't allow untruths, porky pies, misleading adverts and so on. I know what conclusion i drew..........

Vee haff vays of making you pay!

Lost count of the number of ignition switches i've had to renew on those posh VWs aka Porsches not to mention a plethora of other electrical faults. Mechanically the older ones are better than ~mid 90s onwards as they were built to a specification rather than a price and didn't have a 100k mile life expectancy.
They're not worse than the French stuff but that isn't saying much to be honest!

The best German cars are Mercs but, like all other manufacturers from the mid-late 90s onwards, built everything to a price rather than a standard so they're not really any better than anything else, just the price tag makes you think that.

That's an insult to dogs everywhere Steve!

My biggest question is "WHY??????"

It would have been so much easier to drop in a Cosworth or even a Pinto and then turbo that, both would have given more power than a stock B230FT or even a Cologne V6 with K-Jet (~160bhp) but the listing claims 2 bar boost which if my barely-awake-maths works is 29psi. That's nearly 4 times standard boost of 8psi.

Yes, it'll go well but how long before the rods make a bid for freedom through the block?

Best thing to do with that would be to extract the red block, fit a 1.6CVH (like it's registered as having) and matching box, get your friendly local painter to give it a blowover and put it back on the bay.

Then sell/use the red block in a Volvo - or maybe a Dolomite............. but do the job properly!

Anyone considering this motor car should watch Jackman’s video series (see The Rustberg) first.
