Just what we all need, although this sort of thing is the start of a slippery slope 😀😀

Jeeeeezz, that seriously needs a respray!

I'd also question the legitimacy of any MoT certificate handed over with it, the headlamps are hanging out, rear screen totally missing (poor dog would get wet and/or escape into oncoming traffic!!! ) and the tyres look as bald as Boss Hogg!

Could be made good with some £££, TLC and lots of time!

It's tempting, especially with the 'van. It would go well with the 2 Dinky Police examples and my existing 3 SuperKings: an ambulance, a rally support vehicle and a plain estate with glass sunroof!

We have had a similar discussion about garages and motor cars previously though - except last time you were building the garage and buying the car. Whilst that RR would fit the bill very well (very similar to a RR an uncle of mine bought newish in the 70s and my cousin still owns), but I really need to build that nice big garage in the garden before I acquire a 50s to 70s RR or Bentley.

Coolio though

Addendum: I found a photo of the RR my uncle (who sadly passed away last year) owned that my cousin sent me recently. I remember the RR well, uncle Eric must have bought it in about 1971 or 72, it was only a year or so old, immaculate and the nicest car I’d seen. My cousin keeps the RR as part of his collection, and still runs it on the road occasionally. Coolio .
Hi Alan,

Sorry I missed the reddy brown roller going over the block, but did just see the white one AUB 224E go over:-

https://www.mathewsons.co.uk/auction...pp=48&pn=1&g=1

Didn't get any offers at all, guided £5 - £6k and asking for 'offers' over the phone if interested.

Yes its white, but you can't see that when you're driving it.

MOT history not bad, no corrosion, so might be worth calling and having a trundle up to look on your bike, £4k for a roller????

Cheers

Thank you Steve,
That link isn’t working at the moment, but I suspect there will be a list of unsold lots within a few days.
Alan

Addendum: I’ll check up on the result for the reddy-brown RR in a few days.

A Category S write off will have most potential purchasers running for the hills.

Ah well that explains it, to be honest I only looked briefly at the MOT history.

How do you access the insurance write off data without doing HPI checks?? just out of interest.

The category S was listed in the auction description - a legal requirement. It also says it was an expensive repair and there are some receipts available. Doesn't inspire confidence as to the quality of repair. Given the availability of Shadows on the market a dodgy example like that is a candidate for Flying Spares to part out.

Thank you for that explanation.

Therein lies part of the explanation for the low values of older RR and Bentley: even a small accident would have the insurance company settling for the low value of the car rather than fixing it.
With its history this motor car will never be worth more that £5k (the market has spoken), so there would not be any point spending good money on it - as you suggest parting out for spares is the next logical step.
Alan
