Software Updates – can they be done at home?
Hey All
Does anyone know if you can carry out software updates at home, rather than having to go to the dealer? I'm talking the system software, rather than map and app updates. Thank you! Dave |

No, not possible at home.
Its dealer only, or an independent garage that is equipped to do so (not all are).

You would have to buy a temporary subscription (3-days?) to Vida. There are reports on Swedespeed of owners who did it.

Considering the annual licence costs for dealerships, I imagine even purchasing a subscription to access the system for a few days would be expensive? So much so, it’d probably be cheaper to go to the dealership! Remember, you need to know how to use VIDA & how to download the software updates. If the OP is in any way in doubt, then a garage is the only option.

It’s cool, I only wondered as both my S90 2019MY and V90 2020MY have ‘System Updates’ under the Updates section.
I’ll whizz it down to the dealer. No biggie. |

'System Updates' in this context mean 'functions for online car and infotainment' according to the manual. Don't think I have ever seen such an update in 3.5 years of XC60 ownership.

Service department told me that the system updates tab was indeed intended for system updates, but that because failures in the process could render the car undriveable they decided never to use it in production.
