the best way is to have two people and put a long jack handle in the hole of the cotrol arm and get the assistant to push it down ( goes about a foot down)

Well I did it, not the way I wanted but it is driving.
No way is the replacement shock going in, I am hoping that where I thought the old shock was knackered, it is more to do with bent things, old shock cleaned up and put back in. Managed on my own, first job, remove and replace driveshaft (long one), then replace lower ball joint, I wish Alfa abs sensor came out so easily, new drop link, prep tre’s for the arrival of new ones. Now for the ‘fun’ bit, (wishing I had not lost 25lbs) using a 4’ crowbar with a large screwdriver to hand, I sat on the end of the crowbar, arm and hub go down, slip in screwdriver and we are onto a winner. I had the old 4cs sensor tied to 15lb fishing line so it was easy to pull back up. Everything back together, started the car for the 25yard drive back to the house, hmmm, vibration and metallic rattle, first thought, replacement driveshaft, realisation, not put the engine brace, top mount bar back. Mot ran out yesterday, soon as the new tre’s are on I’ll see if we can pass. |
