Default Red 1966 5 door Amazon 122 for sale

Well folks, it's with some sadness that I have to sell my 66 Amazon.

I bought it back in February as my first classic car. The idea behind buying it was that I would have a rolling restore, where I could learn as I went along.

Unfortunately things haven't gone as planned. I started off well, however as it needed work done to the brakes, welding etc prior to MOT time I thought it would be better to enlist professional help.

I put the car out to a local classic car specialist to get the welding etc done and unfortunately due to the situation at the garage (the owner had some issues not having enough people to do all the work he had on, which to be fair to him he did warn me about prior to me leaving the car there) the car is now no longer MOT'd and is currently SORN'd.

To make matters worse I no longer have somewhere I can keep the car off the road and so I've decided to sell. Hopefully someone with more experience can take it off my hands and do it the justice in restoring it that it deserves.

Anyway- enough of the story, on to...

The Car:
1966 Volvo Amazon 122 (5 Door)
Colour: Red
Engine: 1.8L with twin SU carbs
4 speed gearbox (No OD despite having overdrive badge on boot)
63229 On the clock (but fairly certain it will have rolled over at least once).
Front disks & rear drum brakes. (some weeping from slave cylinders)
Interior is nice (although will need a wipe down) and the front seats were resprung by previous owner.
Rear seat belts.
SWEM starter button

Car was running ok when I put in to the garage in May, although I suspect it needs a new battery. I put in an alternator, although I've held on to the dynamo if you prefer to put it back in. The diff whines a bit when its overrun.

Overall the bodywork is pretty solid with a couple of exceptions-
Nearside inner wing is badly rusted & holed. I have the required repair panel which is currently sitting in the boot ready to be installed.

Offside rear wheel arch has hole which requires to be repaired.

(rubbish pic as it was taken with phone, but you can make out the hole)

The paintwork isn't fantastic - was going to strip & respray if I got to that stage. A few bits where there are some bubbling (See pics in gallery here: http://s904.photobucket.com/albums/a...mazonsalepics/).

I’ve touched on some of the bits & pieces which will be thrown in, but I’ll try to list all the bits here:

2x new engine mounts
2x new headlights (think they’re halogen, can’t remember exact make, but think might be lucas)
Windscreen rubber
4x door seals (rubber)
New lock set with keys
Front inner wing repair panel
Rear wheel arch repair panel
Rear wheel skirt (not sure what exact name is – it’s the bit at bottom next to arch) repair panel.
Hub puller

used spares-
Instrument panel
Door hinge
Window wiper motor assembly
Couple of quarter lights
‘Green book’ repair manuals
Haynes manual
brake shoes
new flexis
spare callipers
SS silencer
spare carbs
distributor
spare fuse box
Couple of boxes of other assorted bits & pieces which I cant remember TBH.

For a bit more info on what was done prior to when I owned it see Gerry’s thread here: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showthread.php?t=65317
(Note I never got round to picking up the OD gear box etc from him so they are not included here).

Again please see pics here http://s904.photobucket.com/albums/ac248/amazonsalepics

If anyone has any more questions or wants to see any more pics please PM me.

The car is currently sitting outside at the garage where I put it in to get the work done. If you want to arrange to have a look please get in touch with me & I can put you in touch with the garage owner to arrange a time to go round to view (week days are when he is normally there).

I do have the full report of what was required for MOT if you want me to send it please ask.

I’m looking for something in the region of £900, however I’m open to sensible offers. Bear in mind that if you buy the car you’ll need to be able to transport it as it currently isn’t taxed.
