Good condition big-bumper 244 turbo manual saloon (a GLT but faster!) went recently for $1900 in Canada. The ad's been taken off so I can't send the link.

Fair-to-good condition RHD 242GTs in Australia sell for under £1000

One had R-sport instruments.

All depends how keen you are to find one I suppose. I flew out to Germany and drove 800 miles home in my 164!

Hi John, thanks for the links. I guess I would import one, but when time (and money!) permit. I think that may be my only option.

Good luck with your GLT. Like many on here, I envy that list of options you have! Let's hope you can crack on with your fabulous 164 so that I can (selfishly) indulge in what you achieve with the 240!

Kind regards
Lucien

Well, don't hold your breath! Still a long way to go on the 164 in terms of work needed, and time to save up for things! (Such as custom manifold, engine management, leather retrim...).

In comparison to the 'full-on' project I've done on the 164, the 240 will be more low-key... at least, that's the plan...

Cheers

John

Sadly US-spec GLTs and Euro-spec GLTs are very different things, including the front-end styling kit. A TV-screen GLT might be listed as a 240, opposed to 244/245. Agreed they will be rare by now, though. Re-creating one with parts from a GLE (which look the same) or GLT would probably be the best bet. I found one in a breakers a few years ago.

cheers

James

The 240 is getting driven a lot and being very useful, but there is no work ongoing because all efforts are on the 164 project.

But, a small update, I got a bargain set of Alfa seats from ebay which will eventually be fitted to give more supportive front seats and better comfort with a split-folding facility in the back.

When we get around to it, I'll document the fitting process - but that will be probably be several months away.

So do these bolt right in, or is there loads of mods to do?

Nice! looks like 156 seats, no? I've had a look at a set in a scrappy, and it looks like it shouldn't be to hard to fit the fronts into a 240 using the seat subframe from the 240. I can't see an easy solution to fitting matching rear seats in an estate and keeping the seats foldable, but if you find a way It'll be awesome. I've wanted a set of 156 seats in mine for a while, I look forward to seeing how your swap goes!

They arent Aalfa 156 seats but I can confirm 156 seats do fit in a 240 and are a piece of **** to do as I did it into my old 240

they're 147 seats. i reckon they'll require a bit of fettling to get the rears to work folding etc but be keen to see just how as im toying with the idea of 147 seats when i get my 242 project in the distant future!!!
