Wink V cam in a 230KH 200 series.

The old Pulsair engine is ok, but very flat to drive.
First job was to bin the Renix and replace it with a 230A Hall effect ignition.
Then the gurgling pipes had to go. A standard exhaust manifold replaces the one with the two pipes that go to that EGR valve thingy.
Holes in the exhaust ports are easily plugged using 240 12mm bolts with the built in washers and some paste.
Right, now remove that useless carb. I know the manifold works ok with a Weber, but they're not my favourite .
I fitted a nice simple 230A pierburg (Stromberg type but pricey to repair now).

Better, but still a bit flat. On the plus side it started instantly and idled smoothly.

So, off to the rummage pile and emerge with a V cam.
With this fitted, timing at 10 BTDC, it now goes very nicely indeed.
Midrange pull is dramatically improved, where the old T cam just gave up and wheezed.
Idle is a bit rougher now and I have yet to set up the CO accurately, but all in all, if you can fit a good cam-do it!

OK, so it is not a full on tyre melting T5 or 230FT rebuild, but for a daily driven 200 it works for me.

Sounds excellent - post a few photos if you can, I've got a soft spot for the B21 and B23 engines. They sound great with a 2 1/4 or 1/2" system.

Probably.
The cam in an F engine is pretty dull, plus you have a Cat to contend with. And a pedal shortage..
Shouldn't affect emissions (my one is in a 79 car so this isn't crucial.no cat of course).

MPG wise, it hasn't hurt at all. Got about 30mpg from a laden 265 with overdrive M46 and a 3.5 diff.
