Default Project rusty 240

Dropped my 240 off at a classic car restorer locally this morning for some welding and fabrication, mainly:
1) Replacement outer sills (complete new panels from Brookhouse)
2) Fabricate new outrigger (nearside, half way along chassis)
3) Chassis rail end bubbling up in boot (as they do)

I guess 2-3 days work in all but they will have the car a couple of weeks and slot it in around other jobs.

Have to say even though the garage seem trustworthy and enthusiastic I always absolutely hate dropping my car in for surgery, almost like taking a pet to the vet. The drop off process didn't go smoothly either as the car completely refused to start which is a rare occurrence. I hadn't used it for a couple of weeks and it was saturated with damp which was likely the cause of the issue. Eventually managed to get it going after a couple of hours anyway.

Garage owner encouraged me to visit throughout the process so I can document the work with my camera so I will be doing this and will update this thread. Also will copy in the extensive restoration work I had done on the rear arches etc in 2010 and make this a full project thread when I get chance. For any new members I haven't bored with my story already this car belonged to my parents from new, I used to ride in my child seat as a toddler in the back, first drove the car on private land age 9 and bought the car off my mum aged 16 to learn to drive and as my first car aged 17 onwards it was there for many adventures the length and breadth of the country including being at uni in Yorkshire then working in London for many years.

Anyway plan is broadly:
1) Get this metalwork sorted
2) MOT
3) Waxoyling/rustproofing
4) Sort out a number of mechanical niggles
5) Cosmetic sprucing up
6) Get a trip planned in the car to Volvo World museum Gothenburg next summer to mark the car's 30th birthday (and because I've never been to Sweden and quite fancy going)

First time I've used them directly. Ordered the 2 full outer sills last Mon, they were delivered direct to the bodyshop within a couple of days as promised. Saw them in the workshop today looking shiny. I guess providing they fit correctly all will be well.
