i have one of those diplomat handbook covers! pinched it from a scrap gl estate i was robbing bits from haha. also got the diplomat service book too!

at least it has new service bits then. just need to get that belt done

nice to have the handbooks for the add-ons too

Will be good if you get to hear back. A friend's dad bought an old early 80's Daimler a few years ago and managed to contact the original owner who was delighted to hear about his old car and verified a number of details, some good (confirmed odometer was replaced at a certain mileage as MOTs seemed to indicate) and some bad (it was apparently looking very tatty when he parted with it so had obviously had a cheapish respray since).

Yeah.

Gary, who I bought the car from, had it for 2 years. His Dad owned it for 5 years before that, I think he said.

It's only had 3 owners from new, so that puts it with the original purchaser from 1990 to about 2004. He placed a special order, with a very high spec, and kept it 14 years or thereabouts. So I'm guessing he was an enthusiast.

There must be loads of history and stories there; I hope he gets back to me.

I tried to contact the first (and only previous) owner of my 360 when it won Best 300 at the BKV back in 2005...only to be told he was now dead...oops!

Mmm, there is that risk! But the original owner of mine shows up on one of those 192 search sites as living at the same address as is shown on a 1996 invoice in the car, so I am hopeful he's still with us!
