Alarm module search.
Please, does anyone know the location of the Alarm module in a UK 1978 Volvo V70? Following advice from America, I've looked under the driver's side front wing, behind the trim on the driver's side, and behind the glove box; no joy!

I assume you meant 98 V70, on my 99 V70 the module that includes the siren and rechargeable batteries is mounted under the drivers side front wing. I folded back the wheel arch liner, which involves drilling out some rivets, and it can be seen up towards the front of the car.

The alarm module & siren are two different things.
The alarm/central locking module is accessed via the drivers footwell behind the dashboard between the steering column and bonnet release lever. The siren should be near the washer bottle in the drivers wheel arch

Thank you! I've found a strange box, well concealed, under the driver's side front wing; to be followed up! There's a fine array of white boxes under the driver's trim, and finding which one is faulty would turn my hair grey, if I had any!

Thank you again! Both parts now found. I hope the battery is under the front wing, too; if I have to get at the white box beside the steering column, I doubt if the eighty-eight-year-old knees will stand it! Brooke

I'll continue this thread rather than starting afresh. My one working fob has just died and it's not the battery - it could be the electronics in the fob, but I don't use it much and when I got the car 4 years back it was virtually unused (the spare fob, not the car, lol). Is this likely to be the central locking module by the steering column and if so what normally goes wrong with them??
