Default 10p in the air vents

My child has dropped 10p down the windscreen air vent (2011 V60). During driving I then heard it roll along, and then drop down somewhere, where it went quiet since.

I'm desperate to get the 10p back, can't afford to throw that sort of cash away.

In reality, I'm concerned it might ultimately block something, does anyone have a view if I can just ignore it, and if not is there a nice simple way to retrieve it, or are we talking dash removal ?

Reminded me of when I was in the Navy.
Someone was very annoying to lots of people, he then was moaning for weeks that there was a noise above his bunk especially when it was rough. It was later found out someone had put a ball bearing in the fan trunking above his bunk to get their own back!

Sorry no help for you.
Iain

Again no help, but prepared to ask the forum to start a whip-round, even if we can just cover your loss.

Cheapo endoscope from eBay to locate it (or not), then some (very) sticky tape on a stick to extract, if it's in a retrievable position.

Apparently someone took their Ford Escort back to the dealer a few times to fix a rattle behind the dash.

On the umpteenth attempt to fix it they removed the dash and found a piece of wire with half a dozen washers fastened to part of the loom with a note saying "Bet it took you ages to find this".

Joking aside have you removed the pollen filters to see if it's in there?

I'm not particularly handy with a spanner, is removing the pollen filter, an easy job ? I couldn't even tell you where it was.

If you’re under 25 years old, skinny as a rake and spent your childhood doing gymnastics or yoga, then you can just about contort yourself into the right position to get at it. If you can readily dislocate a few joints and hold a torch in your teeth too, even better.

If you’re more like most of us Volvo owners, then it’s a real faff.

^^^^ What he said.
Usual place to find the pollen filter is directly behind the centre console, low down. Hence being a contortionist . You may find a UTube vid covering the exchange of.

Just watched a YouTube video. The guy stripped out the glove box and ECU behind, and accessed the filter through there.

Don't think I'll bother with that, but from what I could see in the video, that filter sits just under the dash, so my 10p would likely be just sitting against that filter. That being the case, can't see it doing much harm, so I'll leave it be while all quiet.

If it starts making a noise again, I might consider the £35 endoscope off eBay.

Thanks guys

Look on the bright side, you haven’t lost the 10p, you know roughly where it is.
