Hi All
I know some of this been said before 15" or 16" front disc,s which are fitted. From research it seems both caliphers are the same but the mounting bracket is different (price £13 approx) the v70 T5 has 16" discs so you can upgrade for the price of disc,s and a new bracket .those with access to vardis please help
cheers Alan

the cracket isnt available separately for the big disks, the one you can get for a few quid is to fit the calipers to the 280mm disk only.

the only route to upgrade from 280mm to 302mm is go get a pair of the larger calipers that come with the brackets. you then need 302mm disks and the pads are supposed to be the same.

the caliper is physically the same, but the mounting bracket is longer for the 302mm brakes.

the longer bracket comes with the calipers as part of an exchange package. you cannot get it any other way. even the manufactures ATE dont have a separate part number for the bracket - i tried that too!

to upgrade, you order 1 of each (sided) caliper exchanges, pay your exchange deposit and then forget to take back the old calipers.

302mm disks are only about £55

pads are the same cost / same part as 280mm pads

do a search for 302 or 302mm to find previous posts with the part numbers - i cannot remember off the top of my head.

Alan,

if you can find a part number for this, then please post it, as this could be the cheap way to get those 302mm disk upgrades.

there certainly isnt a bracket available for the 850 though.

Default T5R front brakes again - and again!

Don, there seems to be a hell of a lot of confusion about this business of oversize brake discs for T5Rs and Rs - can you shed any light on the part number business?

The numbers I got from Speeds are at the moment my reference, but I've seen others quoted and your comment about 302mm discs on a T5 confuses me still further - I thought T5s had the standard 280mm discs.

Volvo UK are no help and I can't email Volvo Sweden to sort it out once and for all since their website doesn't have an email facility - if you or any other reader can sort this one for good and all I'd be eternally grateful.

All I can add is that the Euro car parts website lists 280mm disks for the 850 but both 280 and 302mm disks for the V70. I would be interested in upgrading the brakes on my 850 if it only needs a braket making up.

All I can say is that my V70 T5 has 302mm brakes on the front from new..however a C70 I saw recently had those puny 280mm jobbies!
