My 940 (1994B200F) has just gone in the garage today with this problem. I'll let you know what the problem is when he fixes it. He's Volvo trained, so will hopefully suss it.

Picked up the car this morning and the idling problem seems to have been solved. It now ticks over at a steady 800/900 rpm right from start up.

Unfortunately, I was short of time on pickup so didn't have time to chat but on the invoice he's written, 'Remove T body and clean. Remove ISC valve, clean and reassemble and reset base idle.' Basically a build up of 30 years of muck gunging up a (butterfly assembly?)

If that's unclear maybe someone more knowledgeable can expand. Or give the garage a call. CE Smith & Son in Ludlow. Charlie is the owner and he is Volvo trained. (01584 873453).

I'm just glad to have found a Volvo knowledgeable mechanic close to me. We are rather on the edge of the known world in these parts.

Hope that helps.
