Unfortunately, it appears the windscreen washer level sensor is now not picking up that I've brimmed it so the warning still appears on the dash and headlight washers will not engage. I have since discovered thanks to this forum that windscreen washers not working is an MOT failure for post 2009 cars!

Any tips on solving which do not involve anything as challenging as taking the front bumper off or the passenger front wheel arch trim gratefully received!
The washer bottle and the sensor can be accessed from the passenger wheel arch. You have to remove the plastic wheel arch liner, but that's nothing big. Jacking the car up and taking the wheel off will give you more access.

As for the headlight washers not working, it could be linked to the dodgy sensor, but it could be the pump itself. You may need a friend to push the stalk inside the car to spray the washer nozzles whilst you listen to see if the pump is doing anything. There's two pumps, the one nearest you is for the headlights. The one on the back of the reservoir nearest the front bumper is for the front and rear windscreen. The one nearest you as you take the wheel off is the one you want to focus on.

Default A pillar windscreen trim

Removed cleaned and re-fitted driver side A pillar windscreen trim,

Was badly refitted after a new screen a few years ago. Took off small trim around the hinge, gave the trim a wiggle to free any stuck rubber etc, then gently nudged it up the screen with a piece of wood.

Retrofitted a dipstick for the engine and broke the main intake pipe (new one and new soft grommets has been ordered). I can now finally check the oil condition, not only the amount. The level has nothing to say about the oil quality.

Since my drivers door had been replaced prior to purchasing the car (without my knowledge) the speakers were mismatched in the car. Driver side door had High Performance speaker and other 3 doors had Performance (crap) speakers.

I swapped the remaining 3 speakers to the High Performance versions and it is night and day difference. Next I need to upgrade my amplifier, but for now even going from 4ohm to 2ohm the stock Performance amplifier is doing fine with a software equalizer on my phone.

Default Came home from a short (~20 mile trip) to smoke!

Following a short ~20 mile trip yesterday, I got home and smoke was coming from under the back (windscreen) edge of the bonnet!

Not lots, wisps. On opening the bonnet, it seemed to be coming from the back of the engine (D5) - possible the turbo?

I did another 5 miles or so and nothing more...

Any advice or suggestions?

Check to see if there's any hoses that are split where you seen the smoke.

Default New rear brake pads after only 17500 miles

I replaced my rear brake pads today after the rear driver side started making noises heading back from Goodwood Revival. I had new ATE ceramic pads and ATE discs fitted in late September last year. After less than a service interval the rear driver side is gone completely.
I have fitted TRW DYEC/COTEC this time. Fortunately the disc was not scored or damaged.
The ATE ceramic pads on the front are almost half worn in the same mileage.
