Default Shark have done it again!!

Another fantastic trip down to the guys at Shark!

Car got its service and then the intercooler fitted and the results are ace!

also got them to fit the Vibra Technics engine torque mount while they were at it.

the journey home was fantastic car went so well on the motorway super responsive and loads of power readily available!

not sure if i was imagining it but it seemed to be a little more economical with the petrol too? maybe i am wrong and i will have to do some tests but it seemed to be going a bit easier on the tank?

the only confession that i have is the torque mount that i asked them to fit is a little hard for the car when it is idling, fine on the road but you feel a bit of vibration at idle, it might soften up a little with use but if not i will drop the stock one back in.

Needless to say the guys at shark were as helpful as ever, even let me watch the dyno run and talked me through the process as they did it. it was great to be there seeing how they did the work and the way Ben explained everything really gave me a better appreciation of what they do.

you can see the difference in the old and new cooler below, this is fast becoming my favourite upgrade so far! its a shame that it is hidden behind the bumper it looks so nice and well made it deserves to be seen!

many many thanks to Ben and Mikko and everyone else at Shark, it is very obvious why they get such high praise from everyone that visits them, they have an unrivalled customer service and cant do enough to help you.

For anyone who is thinking about getting some work done, do yourself a favour and take a trip to Shark!!!

Once you get cars breathing better than stock they can often show an increase in fuel economy Marc, providing you don't use that extra power of course, so cruising up the motorway at sensible speeds will have been a good indicator of that :-)

Nice fresh brake fluid and some braided hoses will complement those nicely :-)

Default Tips Please....

So i have spent the day buying up the tools i will need for fitting the new brakes, got a one man bleed kit, brake cleaner and a caliper rewind kit.

now i plan to change the fluid as well at this point, (figure while i'm at it), so which fluid should i get? any one recommend something? i haven't looked yet but fairly sure its dot 4 for my car should i go for the castrol react performance, or motul 600 RBF, or does it matter?

As long as it is dot4 it is not going to matter too much.

Suprisingly even the Volvo stuff is a reasonable price.

If you were wanting to upgrade to performance fluid (higher boil point) then you could get DOT 5.1 fluid. You can happily mix 5.1 with DOT 4 no worries but it is good practice to do a complete replacement. Do NOT get it mixedf up with DOT 5 (5.0) as this is completely different fluid all together and should NEVER be mixed with DOT 4 or DOT 5.1

DOT4 fluids vary massively, for normal use anything would likely be fine but I've used RBF600 for years and would recommend that .

It would have had standard fluid put in it, when you look at the price of RBF600 you'll understand why.. not everyone wants to pay £45 extra on a brake fluid change but those with track focused cars or bigger brakes are generally happy to.
