Unhappy The unit that controls the glow plugs!!

(Off topic - shouldn't the topic prefix option be D5252T?)

My heater / glow plug(s) went a while back and it took be a while to have them replaced (waiting for next service). Anyway, I had the plugs replaced but my mechanic has told me that I've managed to wear out the small heater control unit to the front drivers side of the engine bay.

I've been trying to get hold of one of these little units but nobody seems to have heard of it; as if that isn't enough to add to trying to find a 850/V70 TDI being broken in the first place!

Am I referring to the correct name? Is there a technical Volvo name for the part in question - which I've circled in the picture attached.

Any information would be appreciated!

Would it be the 'relay glow plug unit'? See -

Thanks for the information, the description of the heater plugs on page 13 makes sense! I had a closer look at the part on the car and searched online for the 'part number' displayed on the top of the casing - it returned a couple of foreign words which translated to 'glowplug' and 'relay' so must be on the right tracks.

I'll let you know how I get on from here.

Thats for the details - I've contacted that eBay seller as, as of yet, I've had no luck sourcing another one of these.

The engine comes from Audi, so you might find a glowplug relay from one of those.

Will post you some links later to some of the massive online breakers that source parts from breakers all over the country, you should have some luck there, these links are on another thread but no time to check now, will put them up later today

If Craig's one proves to be no good try -

www.find-a-part.com
www.247spares.co.uk
www.breakeryard.com
www.1stchoice.co.uk

one of these surely must have one? I've used both 247 and 1stchoice and found them to be fast and be reasonably priced
