Default 02 S60 ABS ring replacement

Chaps
As ever I cannot get into the 60/80 section so posting here !

Can anybody please tell me if the brake unit will slide off the driveshaft without removing the bottom ball joint ?

I have both bolts off the suspension strut and the steering joint undone - still cannot get her off !!!!

Yes definitely.
Remove top strut to hub bolt.
Loosen bottom strut to hub bolt.
Disconnect track rod end at the hub.

You then have all the slack you need.
The ring won't slide off unless it's very badly corroded and swollen so you'll probably need to cut it off.

As ever many thanks.

I have done all that but still cannot get the unit off the drive shaft - obviously much like the 70 battery drain saga I am doing something very simple very wrong !!!!

I prefer to say I do not have the knack !!

It will come as no surprise but you were right - I slipped a wooden drift in the drive shaft, relatively light tap and out she came !

Hopefully one last question. I have the new ring on. It has been a pig. I had thought that it should be pushed all the way back ( if so I will need a miracle ) until the face of the ring meets with the drive shat.

However when I look at the offside the ring is mounted flush with the outer flange - if that makes sense.

I could not tell when removing the old one as it had snapped and was loose !

Not had to replace one myself......but I seem to remember you have to warm the ring up in the oven, so that it expands, then fit it, don't forget the oven gloves !!! Don't know what temp to set the oven at, but you might as well chuck some cake or chips in too
