Yeh popped into halfords today to see if they had a relay kit today.
They don't but am going to search the producers of there range of lights to see if they sell something separate. They do have a led set that comes with an auto dimming relay in the box but thats going to leave you with unused leds bla bla bla bla. Will keep you posted hopefully tonight |

Found a unit on amazon that turns them on with the ignition, and off when dipped beam is switched on.
Its a start but I want mine to dim to 50% which is still legal. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Time-Running...im_sbs_auto_11 |

As I think that this involves disabling the standard running lights what does your insurance company make of this modification?

Hi with what I have and am about to fit the LED DRL's will run totally independent of the cars entire existing lighting.
The LED's will turn on when the ignition is on and dim to 30% when dipped main beams are on thanks to a little widget. So now I can simply leave my existing volvo DRL's coming on as normal or pop to volvo and have them disabled which isn't an insurance issue just personal preference. Or am I wrong?? on that last point. Thanks Bill |

Ok the dimming kit is a no go. Lights that do this have that built into the lights themselves so its an auto on/off kit from amazon from amazon then, will do for now.

I think I might just hard wire an on/off switch into the cabin footwell so I can turn them off if I want to at night.
