Passenger door locks... but really it doesn't!
This is a funny one. The front passenger door lock button goes up and down with the central locking. You can also lift it up and down manally. It appears to operate perfectly normally. However, it doesn't actually lock. The door can still be opened from the inside.
Please can anyone advise whether I need a new locking actuator, or whether the lock mechanism itself needs to be replaced? I'd rather find out which bits I need before I strip the door down. Many thanks! Tim |

Tim,
You said the door can be opened from the inside when locked , this is normal , is the door locked when you try to open from the outside? Mister T. |

Thanks! |

when you central lock, does the actuator from that door respond by making that locking/unlocking sound ? as for the lock mechanism try to double check by un/locking manually on that door if it locks and unlocks its a good sign that the mechanism is fine and the problem might be that actuator

Yep, the central locking causes the button to go up and down. Still doesn't lock when it's down though
It appears that the actuator is working, but whatever it is that connects that to the actual lock isn't. |
