Default Full beam

Hi everyone,
I have had a problem with my full beam not working. I cant turn it on and I cant'flash' other drivers.

It has been into a garage and they worked on it for a full day and couldnt soleve the problem.

Does anyone on here have any ideas?

Thanks.

Richard

High Beam is controlled by:
1. The LSM light switch module talking to the CEM over a LIN bus
2. The steering wheel module SWM talking to the CEM over a LIN bus

The power to the High Beam is actually switched by the CEM, so it is very easy to verify the CEM output

Connecting VIDA will tell you in about 2 minutes where the problem lies... the LSM, the SWM or the CEM
With VIDA you can switch on each High Beam lamp individually
You can check the steering wheel switches (high beam flasher)
You can check the LSM switches (lights on / off)
Did the garage use VIDA?

My guess is water corrosion in the CEM causing the switching of the relays for the High Beam to have failed.

It might be something really really simple, just in case you haven't checked this, it caught me out.

The XC90 has daytime running lights on all the time so your low beams are always on. There is however a headlight switch which can be changed between lights on, lights off (misleading because the low beams stay on) and side lights on (for parking).

It can be confusing at night because if your switch is set to lights off you will still have low beams. However if you try and use the high beams it won't let you.

.....but it would still let him use the flash facility
