aggr thieves stole my alloy centre caps
not had any probs with my volvo s40 really, the alarm works.
so imagine my suprise when i went down to my car this morning and found 3 of the 4 centre caps for my alloys, 'missing'. i have checked flea bay but the prices for non original caps was at £32.00 with 2 days left. is this a good price or is it worth going to a dealer and buying from them? i searched the board but the last problem like this was in 2003 on here, i am guessing the prices may have gone up since them? |

Hi, the wheel centres are part number 30638643 (you never said which year your car is so please check with Volvo to check the info that I've posted as I just checked the price for a typical S40 centre cap with my local dealer without giving the year). They cost £7.99 each from Volvo and £7.38 with VOC 10% discount! That's £29.52 for four!

Strangely enough are you sure they were pinched? On my V40 I lost 3/4 at the same time in some very hot weather. According to the dealer this was because there was a problem with the caps - in very hot weather the clips used to let go. The replacements they gave me were apparently slightly different and not supposed to let go.
Can't remember how much they cost - do remember there was a heck of a wait for them as they had loads disappear at the same time. All this straight out of the dealer's mouth and can't vouch for any of it - but my car wasn't really in any place where it would have had someone pinch the caps. Tony |

securing wheel caps
put a bead of silicon sealant on the inside of the cap and wheel, this is flexable and helps keep it in place.

Centre Caps
If Volvo admit to a problem in hot weather then surely there should be no charge........
Just a thought... |

Strangly enough, I noticed when I jet washed my car that one was loose, so I took it off. I subsequently lost one and then removed the remaining two.
On closer inspection when I had the wheels off the wheel has starter to corode slightly between the cap and the wheel (it is 7 years old after all) and the caps are very loose. I'll put them back on with a cool melt glue gun and stump up the cost for one from the stealers.
