Default Turbo Lag on the V90 ( was a 2019 )

Hello

I'm currently looking around for a new, err, second hand estate. About 2-3 years old 20k-30k on the clock in the region of 25-31k. I've tried the four I could think about...

BMW Touring... Great Drive, not great looks and the driver cabin feels 'cramped'
Audi A6... Lovely inside, looks nice not sure about long term running costs
Merc E-Class... Very nice inside, looks nice outside. 'Should' be like a tank if maintained
Volvo V90 ....

I WANTED to like this but the main thing that has put ( the wife off ) and me to be honest. On an entry level V90 was Turbo Lag. She was in dynamic mode put her foot down.... Err... Nothing.... Then off we go.

The other one was the massive lump behind the rear view mirror. Sure it's the safety stuff, but it's a tad intrusive.

Please if I am missing something or need to try something different ( Big dog + 1 small child ), please let me know, as at the moment the Merc seems to be winning.

But I thought I would ask you lovely people on the forums :-)

If it’s the diesel then it’s not turbo lag it’s the gearbox not knowing what gear it’s in, drives us mad.

I'd still give a (in the right spec!) Skoda Superb or Passat estate a look.

They have an iV Laurin & Klement at Winchester for £33k ..... Got to be worth a look half an hour away from you ?

Superb does the same thing, look up Audi pedal box mod for Superb.

Avoid petrol DSG's under 2000cc as well unless you like £10k headaches.

Not in my ownership experience it they are serviced properly with the adaptations etc, and I've had a couple that I kept to over 100,000 miles ?

Back on the Superb - great spec and worth a comparison drive against the others on your list.

How old was yours? diesel or petrol? above or below 2000cc?

My friend has had to get rid of his 1.5 TSi due to it not being in warranty anymore, had one box in warranty and that **** it's load again meaning this 19 plate car is on it's 3rd box already, I had a 1.8 TSi mk2 model, lovely car but when I found the history it had had a new mech unit and clutches at 13k, I sold it on 22k and it vanished off the DVLA website about a year later.

They were all moaning about throttle response when the MK3 launched.

My 17 year old Land Rover Defender 110 responds better with 190k on the clock. As such, I don't think it's the diesel. I'd guess either gear box or turbo lag. I'm guessing a more knowledgable Volvo sales person might have got us into something less laggy. I might revisit another dealer.
