It's interesting you say that as I THINK it was Amazon cars over in East Anglia that suggested using the BP8**

I certainly don't race (well sometimes if I'm late for something)

Easy as anything on an older Stromberg - you adjust the height of the jet underneath the carb body - but a little more involving on a leter one. On your carb, is it marked 175 CD2 S or 175 CD2 SE?

The offer of bringing the old car down to Exeter for a proper tune up is still more than valid!

I have to say that on a B18A or B20A I alwasy found the hotter plugs are better for hot starting and prevent running on after a lively drive. I've found no other difference to drivability
