Spark Plugs - seasonal changes
Hi
I have NGK 8's in my B20A which i was recommended for poor starting in cold weather of course it's warmer now (I know, it's only May it can all change) Should I be swapping the plugs as it's running quite lumpy in warm weather??? Thanks

Personally I wouldn't have changed them.

If you like NGK, use BP6HS. There's no such thing as an NGK 8 but BP8** are more of a racing plug. Not sure why they should be thought of as winter plugs.

I use the Bosch W225 equivalent all year round but have 20b with K cam, I suppose it makes some sense to use a plug which runs hotter in winter but I never did.
BTW Portuguese.

Hotter/Cooler plugs have got nothing to do with the weather. It's all down to matching the plug heat grade to the specific engines ignition and combustion requirements and how the car is driven, or actually how hard the engine is driven.

Running lumpy now it's warmer. You might need to readjust the carb. I do each summer and winter

I would think that a plug that runs hotter in winter, especially if you are doing shorter journeys would get up to temperature sooner and have less chance of fouling?

and I believe that's the rationale my 'advisor' gave me when I was having a job cold starting in mid-winter

All I've done on the carb is top up the little reservoir with 3in1 - there must be more to it than that thanks for any links
