I know there's nothing worse than asking a question and then questionning the answer, but spoke to Amazon Cars in Suffolk in the meantime and they reckoned 32 on the front 34 on the back???? quite a difference.....
hmmmm???? |

well I also spoke to Nigel and also Simon at Brookhouse. So I'm aggregating the results and coming out at
26 front 28 rear (just me and a passenger) then add more in back for a full load from what i gather there is a certain amount of personal choice in there - plus adjustment for heavy steering.....thanks again |

Having owned one and worked on them for many years those pressures are far too low , we always used about 33 rear and front , it certainly helped with the steering and tyre wear . I cant ever remember seeing 22 psi in the manuals for front tyres !
Vovo histoicaly always recommended pressures which are simply too low .

I find that higher pressures give a harsh ride. If she hadn't dropped the printer scanerand smashed it I would have scaned the page in and posted it on the forum. The values I quoted were taken from two separate handbooks! As I have PAS, the steering is not the problem it was before I had it fitted. Over inflation can lead to uneven wear and a smaller footprint between the tyre and road. However I bow to the wisdom and experience of others.

okay folks, so far my research has given the following (just on the front, for ease of making the point) 20 22 26 32 33 Haynes has 'tyre pressure' in the index, then you get to the page and it looks like they have blanked it out at some point. Is this a conspiracy or something!!?? ) I'm wandering if I write to Toyo (in this case) with the vehicle weight and get them to suggest???? |

Have you actually checked a hand book? Quite a few folk advocate a couple of pounds more in the front to help with the low speed heavy steering. I did. Not teaching you to suck eggs but over inflation causes heavy wear in central strip of tyres and under inflation at the edges. What were the pressures in the tyres you took off and what was the wear like? I think that maybe you should start at 23/24 psi cold, light and see how it feels.
BTW If you can't get a hand book I will send mine for you to scan, print and return.

Thanks for your offer of sending one. I will look on ebay for one, failing that I will take you up on your very kind offer..... The wear on the old tyres was even - but I didn't think to check the existing pressure as I didn't realise the confusion I'd have at this stage!! |
