Default Neutral safety switch

Does anyone know if neutral safety switches for the BW35 are still available? In case my nomenclature is different, it's the switch that prevents the car from being started unless it's in park or neutral.

Hi
My switch went a month ago, couldent find a spare one .
So scratched my noodle and come up with this .

a micro switch from Maplins GW72P £1.89 [ bought 2 1 for spare ]
Cable pr mtr XS72p £2.19 per mtr [ bought 4 mtrs to make sure I had enough , got a bit for spare ]
4 conectors

Remove plastic cover over steering wheel [ top and bottom ]
2 screws in top 3 in bottom [ ones very small ]
split the cable to the starter soliniod [ think it was the top one ]
connect the cable to each of the cables , pass them around the and to the gear lever ,
Next take off the cover over the lever and you can fit the switch at the front of the metsl box just behind the tonge that the top slides into , conect
the two cables [ think it was the outer connections used 2 small screws to attach . and you can only start in park , simple downt know why Volvo diddent do it this way simple , and easy to get to.
If you have trouble , let me know and ill take a pic.

Regards
Mike B

Hi Mike, Thanks for posting this. I have a 140 auto that I recently took off the road for restoration. I was however starting to have a niggle which I guessed was down to this switch. The car would always start without fail from cold but not always when warm. My thoughts had been that if the switch was no longer available I could probably by-pass it. Not ideal really though as it goes against the grain to over-ride a safety device. If you do have any pictures of this they would be much appreciated.

Thanks and Regards

Scott

I found a switch but I would be interested in some photos of how you did yours, Mike.

Small parts are getting harder to come by so this would be something to keep for the future.

these were available about 10 years ago , you might try your dealer, volvo classic parts should have a vital part like this . Other manufacturers used a similar switch .
volvo used a 6 terminal one the other two contacts were for the seat belt light . but i believe replacement switches had 4 terminals , you by passed the seat belt part of the switch ..

how about this?
