Alarm Service Required
Hi All,
One of you good people posted a while ago that this warning was caused by the penny battery in the alarm module needing replacement, and this could be done by opening the alarm module and soldering a new one in. My question is, where is the F~~@**! alarm module? I blowed if I can find it, and what does it look like? Thanks

It is behind the right front wing in front of the wheel , taking the arch liner out will expose it . BUT its most unlikely just a new battery will fix it . The last 10 i have opened have had the circuit board burned and the wirres from the battery corroded so thin they broke off . so basicly you need a new siren about £90 from the dealer , go for the siren KIT , the siren on its own is about £140 !

Can I ask once all the alarm has been replaced and working, that it is a dealer only software required to turn off the alarm service message when unlocking and starti8ng the car?

This may help :
http://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/for...p?f=11&t=17479 Actual siren innards may well vary, but that's how to get "at it"

The Clan is right. No software needed for alarm siren, its just 'plug and play' as they say

Just out of interest, has anyone managed to succesfully replace the faulty battery? I notice in the link above that after he'd done it, it still didn't work proper job
I binned my old siren.... Last edited by swedishandgerman; Jul 27th, 2010 at 21:30. |

I'm going to have a play, (nothing ventured, and it keeps the wife at bay) I am an electronics BSc, but suspect that from what I have so far read the leaked battery contents are too distructive to salvage anything on the circuit pack.
