Default 850 estate GLT /CD spec

Hi,
I am looking to upgrade from my currently owned (last 31 years) Volvo 245DL estate, to a Volvo 850 estate model.

Can anyone tell me please what is the difference between a GLT spec & a CD spec 850 estate ?

I've got a 850 GLT, it is very well up on spec for the age. If you look on wikipedia it will tell you the differences.

Basically all the 1st 850's were badged up as GLT models then you just went through the options list and added what you wanted. Mine has got electric windows all round, the lovely wood dash surround and on the centre consul, a boot spoiler, half leather interior, trip computer.

The CD spec has full leather, cruise control, and one or two extras besides

I'm pretty certain I've seen plenty of 'SE' spec early 850s and many 'S's.

My 850 is an 'S' according to the V5 although says GLT on the boot and has full leather...

Basically CD models have a better 'basic' spec but any 850 regardless of spec can have loads of different options fitted. Probably best to base any judgements on the car in hand rather than paying too much attention to the letters.

indeed, the specs on these are a minefield, and can differ from car to car. Just becuase it has GLT on the boot, you can not rely on what it will have inside.

Mine is neither, and is the TURBO badged, and the only extra it does not have is the climate control. it has every other option fitted

The SE was the base spec for the first couple of years, with GLT being top of the range until the Turbo was launched. From '95 on the specs were changed and the base model was just 'S' while CD (Corps Diplomatique) was basically the full luxury spec. I think GLT disappeared around '96 or thereabouts from the European market, but I'm not certain.

For the rest of the world, specs are even more varied and it would take all day I'm sure to list them out.

Default Spec

The only things my 93 K 2.5 GLT doesnt have are
A/C
Tracs [some debate to that]
Electric seats
Wood surround

otherwise it has the other options including cup holders, twin cigar lighters, ashtrays and
I think my 93 K GLT was built when everything in the UK Was badged GLTthough

I think the general idea is, when you look to buy ignore the badge and just make sure it has the extras that YOU want... lol
