Default EML came on today

The day before I go on holiday my Xc90 looses power and later the engine management light comes on!!
Any suggestions please?
I hope the local garage can plug in and download what’s wrong.
I only needed it to last until 24th of this month as I start a new job and get a company car. 😡😡

It could be anything. Its like asking how long is a piece of string.

Sorry, but without diagnostics, there's no definitive answer. Getting the codes read is your best bet.

Any unusual noise?
One common fault is for one of the intercooler hoses to blow off, this results in the engine going into limp mode and the dash light coming on; it is usually possible to hear the air blowing from the pipe when the engine is revved.
It’s a bit awkward to get to the pipe to refit it, but possible with a bit of perseverance, and once refitted and tightened up, it will be as good as new.

The garage diagnostics stated one of the pre-start heaters was down and the particulate filter needs a good run.
Travelled 160km and towards the end of the journey it still was down on power.

Has anyone used an additive to clean the particulate filter.
I have just read the regen won’t start if there’s an engine fault indicated.

Didn't you get the glow plug fault fixed?

What was the actual fault code?

Depends how bad the filter is. If its totally blocked, the chances of additive working are pretty slim.

No the glow plug will have to wait until I get back from my holiday. I don’t know the code.

How does the filter regenerate? Does it burn the soot of with an electric heater?
