Yes there are seals around the lights. I took one of mine off, and it was very difficult to release the 'grip' of the seals after undoing the screws holding the cluster in place.

Maybe someone has removed the lights to replace something.

Check where the wiring enters the tail gate at the top near the hinges.

The only good news is the tailgate on the ph3 is plastic.
There is a good video by "volvo sweden" on youtube about fitting a sealing strip above the hinges.

You don't need to search out the Volvo part if you have any surplus window edging sealing strip like I used here:

https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/attac...9&d=1620472414

Once the tailgate is closed you cannot see it anyway so the colour doesn't really matter. The water ingress in question is down around the hinges, although it's not obvious how that happens.

Hi all
I remembered after FreshAir had said .I had tried to take out the tailgate light.
So ordered new seals.
I will let you all no if that works.

I think I had a similar issue...

Check this thread out, it could be grime is blocking the drainage channels, and so water ends up inside your tailgate.

So try remove your rear lights and give the whole area a good clean so water can flow freely.
