We were going to change our Inscription Pro for a momentum after a few months as the seats are so bad but in the end got some gel cushions to sit on, not ideal on a £50,000 car and they are the worst seats we have had in a Volvo. The next car will not be a Volvo because of this which is a real shame.

I’ve also had a post about this topic two years ago. My summary:
- the seats are only painful for taller people
- the momentum seats are not having issues

The two adjustments that helped:
- the front extension must stay in (although taller people would prefer it extended)
- the base must be as horizontal as possible (front side to the lowest position, back side as high as possible; my head is at 5 cm to the roof in an XC60); again something taller people wouldn’t choose to do…

… then you stop feeling the need to check your back pockets for lost stones….

Yes I remember that thread but couldn't find it! Your summary outlines why these seats appear to be so marmite - talking to one of the techs at the dealership yesterday he couldn't understand why I thought this way as he thought they were most comfortable seats ever. And he's 5' 10" apparently.

The constant pain of being so tall ......

I’m 6’5” and my R-Design seats are great. That said, how tall you are isn’t the whole story for car interior packaging. Just because you are tall, doesn’t mean your leg length, or hip breadth, or arm length are all proportionally sized. Most humans have significant variability across their body dimensions and hence why you need adjustability in the seat, and it helps if you have it in the steering wheel as well. Incidentally id quite like the steering wheel to extend rearward another 10 or 20mm.

The gap in the seat cushion when you extend the front edge bothers me not, and I have it fully extended, as it’s under the mid point of my thighs and my thighs are supported either side of it. I notice no ‘edges’ to speak of. But my thighs might be longer, or shorter, or wider or narrower than another persons. Plus I might have my seat base higher or lower, or more angled rearward, or flatter. All these things will make a difference and many people don’t spend some quality time setting up their driving position.

It is always possible that a given seat is not for you no matter how much it adjusts.

For my 70th birthday treat we went for a day out and picnicked in Fort William, we live in Filey North Yorkshire. That was a 750 miles round trip of virtually none stop driving in our S90 R-design and the seats passed the 'comfort' test with flying colours.
Hope you solve your personal difficulties with 'adjustment' of the seat.

"A day out"? That's a 14 hour round trip, with out stops.

The funny thing is that I've not seen any threads about poor seat comfort with respect to earlier Volvos.

Excluding a couple of years of owning a Nissan X Trail I've had Volvos for 30 years+. My V90 R Design is the first Volvo with uncomfortable seats. Indeed, I would go so far as to say they are the most uncomfortable seats of ANY car I have owned since 1964. Some achievement.
