A Pillar Trim Straps - Where Can I Buy Them?
Hi, I have a V70 '06. The fabric on the A pillar trim has come away and I'd like to pull the trim off and get it fixed.
However I see there is a critical strap that stops the trim detaching off when the airbag blows in an accident. I will try to remove them with out busting the strap but knowing my luck one will break by accident. Does anyone know where I can buy these straps in case I break one? They look a bit like folded zip ties. Many thanks, Richard |

The straps are available from Volvo dealers, only pence each. Just make sure you give them your reg. as there are two different types.

You can replace the entire trim with the full plastic ones without fabric. You'll possibly need to keep the black "safety" clip and swap it. See my channel with a few videos how to remove it safely. The best is to carefully use a long nose pliers and important to detach first as explained - if I remember well on the trim side first. Also important is not to damage those small "bumps" on the clip on the metal side https://youtu.be/sQ6HpFZspUo

I remember I had to repair mine in a 3 series once, I had the car literally a week before putting a fag burn in the driver side one trying to flick it out the window. Daft tw@
Got my mum to reupholster it, the colour wasn't perfect but it was better than having a black hole in it lol Yet another +1 for vaping |

are they actually discoloured or anything? have you tried just painting some copydex behind there and sticking them back down?
also I know this might sound daft but pritt-stick is surprisingly strong stuff, It's amazing what I've stuck down with that in the past. worst case it just comes off again in 6 months or so |

No not discoloured, just come away as I assume the glue has perished.
I haven't tried gluing the material back yet as it just looked I would mess it up or the glue would ruin the material. So I thought I take the trim off and do it a bit more carefully. The annoying thing with this trim is that Volvo didn't bother to wrap the liner round and back. It looks just pasted onto the front surface only. |
