Default Replacement DIM

Hi Guys,

Have a Volvo V70 D5 2002 that the DIM has failed on, sent it away and was told the processor on the circuit board has failed so they wont repair.. the part number of the original clocks are 8637997 YZK P/no 69294-650T (green connector on back of DIM) I cannot find another set with exact same part numbers. I have purchased a set of clocks from a 2003 Volvo V70 part number 8673263 YZK P/no 69294-750T.. the clocks when plugged in will just show an orange EML light. I can now access the clocks with my code reader and read hardware number and I can test the dials to shoe all working.. my question is would a DIM reload from a volvo dealer/specialist get these working? The fault code I have logged for the DIM is DIM-E003 Configuration Fault. I know 2004+ clocks will not work on a 2002 model year car but is it possible to get there 2003 clocks configured with software? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks Anth.. P.S ex Volvo Technician 7 years ago. Not something we would do in the dealer though is swap second hand parts.

That’s a common fault on these cars, it’s usually caused by dry joints on the solder on the main processor.
Speak to Lucaz (spokulozic) from Volvo diagnostic on this forum for a second opinion. He’s extremely well rated and quick.
There’s a sticky thread in the traders section. Hm

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I have sent him an email so hopefully get a solution. Trying to find the exact part number DIM is proving to be a near impossible task! Car is not worth buying a new set and reprogramming as its coming in around £1800! Has to be a solution to get around this I would have thought.

As in post 2- Lucas is the way to go. Ive sent my original DIM from my 2003 v70, and another DIM from a breakers all problems sorted and a guarantee.
He will supply a replacement DIM programmed for your car.

Cheers for your help! I have 2 sets of clocks, one from breakers which is 2003. The original set are 2002. With any luck he can get a working pair from the two. Will give him a ring. Thanks again!

I might be wrong but I have the feeling that 2001-2002 are compatible only with 2001-2002, and 2003 only with 2003 - assuming 4/5 numbers are identical. It will also display the miles from the donor car
On my 2003 S60 auto I have one from a 2003 XC70 auto. When you get the MIL light it means it's either incompatible, either broken too.

When he did my 2002 DIM, what he required was the same part number. Apparently diff part numbers have diff firmware.

Once I had it working I then took apart a later version with the chrome trimmed dials and reused them on mine so got myself and upgrade
