Internal Rearview Mirror fault
Our 2016 V40 has developed a fault with the manual dimming rearview mirror. Just wondered if anyone has come across this before or has any ideas.
There is a lightening bolt / S shaped distortion mark appeared on/in the mirror. It is not on the surface of the glass, it cannot be cleaned or scratched off. Dimming the mirror makes no difference, it is still there. It appeared a couple of weeks ago and seems to be getting larger.

There is a common fault with the rear view mirrors falling off on some V40s - the adhesive gives way.
Perhaps yours is on the way towards falling off? |

Does the glass fall off the front of the mirror?
Or does the whole Mirror assembly fall off the windscreen / centre console? Anyone know how much a new mirror is?

The glass falls off on its own.
Prices seem to vary depending on the dealer. Occasionally there may be a goodwill payment, but if not average seems to be £100-£150 to replace it (I think they just replace the whole mirror unit rather than a new glass piece.) |
