Noise Vibration when steering centre or left C70 Turbo
Dear VOC friends,
My Volvo C70 2001 Has some very concerning noise vibrations which vibrate everything in the car. I thought it was the engine but now I realise that if I’m on the motorway and I’m driving straight the vibration is reasonably bad if I I’m driving in a straight direction with the wheel at say 12 o’clock. If the motorway begins to bend round to the left and the wheel turns towards 11 or towards 10, It really starts to vibrate very badly it is less pronounced at lower speeds. However if the motorway bends round to the right and I turn the wheel to 1 o’clock or 2 o’clock or 3 o’clock the vibration goes completely and there is silence and smoothness. I’m really hoping I can get this fixed without a huge expense. Any ideas on how to fix this would be most welcome I know you guys and girls are hugely knowledgeable. Kind regards, Richard |

Your description suggests that this isn’t the issue, but it is worth eliminating. Also, the front spring tops on the C70 seem to need regular lubrication to stop horrible creaking noises. Just wondering whether you have one or multiple issues on your 20 year-old beast. |

Check the steering rack mounts. These have a habit of breaking and it could be that one is broken allowing the rack to move.

Try posting in the specific C70 sub forum.

Cured!
Thank you to everyone for your response.
It was the wheel bearings. I bought kit for both sides had them replaced and wow, it’s like driving the living room sofa. Thank you And much appreciated for your replies. |
