Steering angle sensor
As the title says ..... mine needs replaced, there is an intermittent fault coming up.
Can the be picked up 2nd hand and is it a possible home fix, or would I need access to computer hookup to calibrate? Many thanks |

Hi again
I had sand problem and I suggest really not worth looking for pre used. Firstly make sure you order the correct unit by ordering from a genuine Volvo expert, such as frf Swansea. Tell them you are a forum user and you will get a discount, expect to pay about £240 but check around. There are genuine Volvo solc on eBay but again order the correct part for your m/y. It does need setting up by (I suggest) at least a Volvo indie garage. Mine cost £60 from my usual indie. I do have vida, but left this one to experts as delicate parts (airbag) need removing. Again, hope this helps. John l Last edited by john langrick; May 9th, 2021 at 08:47. |

It's possible to repair/clean them. It's normally dust in the optical sensors, but you need to understand what you are doing.
Mine came to me 180 degrees out (i.e., someone had a go at cleaning and put it back wrongly). I put it back together correctly and it's been fine for 5 years. Vida is not essential to replace, but it is pretty much essential to repair, particularly if you get something wrong, as you need to check angle readings. |
