It more than puzzles me, 'Exasperant', it surprises - nay, amazes - me! £400 is much more than I even pay for insurance on my 'cooking' V70! Fully comp with Saga (wife and I to drive) cost me £288.48 last year - and that included a £25 'renewal fee'!! Obviously you will have sought competitive quotations??

Regards, John.

And for reasons unfathomable, sadly a V70 seems 4 or 5x more to insure.

As this is me wanting something practical/ comfortable for "Oh gods, not the MG again" days, budget really does have to be kept to.
I was visiting Dorset regularly until recently as I had family there but sadly not anymore

Yep, shopped around quite a bit. It shocked me too. I think the last renewal on my 98 F was around a third of what I'm being quoted on a 97 V70!

But frustrating as it is, not much I can do. Apart from keep hoping something that ticks my boxes comes along eventually.

They do, thanks!

Soaked myself in bleach and slipped on a hazmat suit, to venture into FB, and found one or two potentially interesting cars.

Seem to also be on Feebay, but for far more money.

Also tripped over a very, very, poorly Morris Minor I have to resist, as the whole idea is affordable comfort, not a major project!

Currently being outbid on a slightly rough but roadworthy 850 with all the toys, and spotted a not on the road but looks impressively shiny 960 I'm keeping an eye on.

Really trying to avoid a "project", but if the 850 goes out of budget and the 960 doesn't, it doesn't look too bad.

And yes, I know. "Doesn't look too bad" always becomes a wallet killer.

Had a PM from someone saying they might have a 940 for sale in the next few weeks.

I tried to reply, but apparently need to meet a 30 post threshold first.

Anyway, I'm still looking and if I've not found anything by the time that 940's up for sale then price depending I'm definitely interested!

Still looking.

No *huge* rush, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed the one I got a PM about comes through. But can't help wondering why it is there seem to be loads of "insert anything I'm looking for here" until I start looking, at which time there's suddenly none!
