Default 2.4 T5 with RTI- Battery size

Possibly needing to look at replacing the battery in my V70 T5 soon. Think a year of lockdown and short trips has not done it any good.

Most the online sites show a type 096 - 72aH for my reg/model and this looks to be what’s fitted at the moment.
However my car has RTI, xenons, premium hifi, subwoofer etc and I remember seeing somewhere that volvo fitted a bigger battery in this case.

The recommended battery for a v70R is a type 19 90aH - would this be a better choice?

Would Vida show the battery required?

I just put a big ol Bosch S5010 in there yes it has a huge space. Twin 12 inch subs and a 1200w amp, hasn't faltered once and I use it without engine running a fair bit as well.

I can't see that different engine would make a lot of difference but standing by waiting to be corrected..

Wink Yuasa YBX5019 from Tayna Batteries

In November 2020 I installed a "Yuasa YBX5019 silver high performance car battery 12V 100AH HSB019" which fits the battery tray and still allows the battery top clamp and cover to fit over it. The five year warranty is pretty good too.

It is marginally longer and taller than the Bosch S5010 85AH but for an extra £7.50 you gain an extra 15AH which makes quite a difference if you use the radio etc without the engine running - even in the -10°C temperatures we had earlier this year it spun the engine over without a problem.

The cheapest supplier of reliable premium batteries I have found so far is Tayna Batteries - they usually arrive next day.

The Yuasa YBX5019 battery has gone up £10 in price since I bought mine and is now £99.99 + £9.48 delivery https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/yuasa/ybx5019/

The Bosch S5010 at £93.95 + £8.01 delivery https://www.tayna.co.uk/car-batteries/bosch/s5010/

Cheers.
I think im going to do a quick bit of testing first.
Car started OK this morning (voltage 12.6v) - moved it down the drive, warmed engine up for about 15 minutes while i got vida setup, read codes etc.

stopped engine but left the ignition on, and voltage dropped down to 11.5v in vida within about 30s, by the time i went inside to get my multimeter (about 2 min, voltage was 10.5 and then that was it... car no starty)

So, either the battery is very much on its last legs, or theres a massive current draw when the ignition is on.

Mine was getting a bit sluggish and dim lights and then didn't start one time when I left the side lights on by accident for a couple of hours. That was it I just swapped the battery, it's well worth 100 quid not to risk getting stranded somewhere especially now I have kids. On my own I wouldn't mind 2hrs waiting for a tow truck but they would be going ape sh!t in the back

If Vida was running with the engine off then that would explain the drain.
Have read on here that Vida is very hungry.

i think i do have an element of parasitic drain when the car is asleep - something in the range of 150-200mA.

Time to start pulling fuses i guess

PS, if ive already removed the dodgy alarm siren, do i need to bother pulling the fuse for it?

The large 019 battery size is the standard fit for these cars - the online sites often show the wrong specs for a lot of components and should not be relied on.

A 019 OEM battery is about £120 from a Volvo dealer. I wouldn't pay any more than this.

These are the genuine standard sizes, however don't know if the information has been verified http://www.volvohowto.com/volvo-batt...-volvo-models/
