Unhappy Headlight Washer Pump

Help!

Just had my car at the garage (Volvo) Serviced and MOT'd.
But hit with a Substantial cost to replace the headlight washer pump.
They have told me this needs the front bumper removed to do this so cost is mostly for labour.

Does anyone know how to do this, or have a schematic/ drawing or instruction to do this.
I would appreciate it.

I am mechanically minded so willing to remove the bumper myself if required.

My Volvo is a S80 1.6 DRIVE 59 PLATE.

Also while I have you....
I will need to replace my discs and pads sometime this summer.
Will I need to purchase a brake release tool? As I have electronic parking brake!
Or is there a way round this?

Thanks

Okay without being unhelpful - honest!! the "Search" function on here, and on the Internet, is your friend.

For the answer to your first question go to YouTube.com and type in "How to remove front bumper on S80" and you will get lots of videos to chose from and IIRC there is one for your car or a V70 which I think has a similar if not the same front bumper.

For the answers to your other questions look in "Articles" at the top of this page (sorry not this page the one before with all the Threads on it). Unfortunately the pictures that were with the disc and pad replacement guide for the front discs have been lost but the OP is trying to replace them (see 4 Threads below this one). The guide for releasing the EPB is also in Articles with pictures.

Good luck.

Removing the front bumper on the S80/V70/XC70 is pretty much straightforward. I've done it myself on my V70 when I had to replace the Volvo emblem. The job takes, including checking the instructions a hundred times, around 20 minutes each way but I strongly advise you to have somebody help you when lifting the bumper off the chassis or vice versa. It should take a normal garage less than 10 minutes to remove the bumper.
This is a link to the instructions: http://accessories.volvocars.com/en-.../all/all/L.H.D

Good luck.

Washer for headlamps ..... pointless .. my V70 D5 08 developed leak on N/S... my Indy garage agreed that repair would be expensive and time consuming .... removed part of N/S wheel arch cover ... to be certain found leak in pipe from pump to Headlamp .... disconnected electrical lead to pump ... now all other washers work perfectly and I'm rid of the water draining headlamp washer system.....cost about £25.00.

Thank everyone,
will be targeting this shortly.
I like everything that should work to work so even though im likely to go through lots of screen wash, I will have a go to fix.

Thanks again

I may be wrong but I think that this would now warrant MOT failure as fitted headlamp washers must be working. Steps back and waits......

just had mot pass, only noted disc wear but still passed.
on service they noted wash pump failure
both completed by taggarts- motherwell---(Volvo Dealer) on same day.

I thought would have been covered by my selekt warranty, but was told it wasnt.
wasnt going to argue.

If you have Xenon headlights, that will be an MOT fail.
