Ive just taken my dash out today and i can also say that i do not have one. To me it looks like a body earth for somthing that was added and removed in the past.

Kinda looks like an earthed resistor. Don't ever remember seeing one either.

Meeki;

It is a capacitor with grounded case which was likely hooked to a terminal (probably IGN +, 54) of the IGN switch for the purpose of quieting ignition noise. One also finds these on the B+ (output) terminal of the Generator to quiet brush noise.

Cheers from Connecticut!

BTW...I'll pay $15 for the Fuseblock off that car (if undamaged and corroded only)...contact me via the Sw-Em site.

I remember when all the car places sold those to remove noise from the power feeds to stereos. I think I even fitted one to my mini once. I'm not sure if they actually did anything useful, kind of like sticking magical magnets in your fuel.

asnedon;

I have to disagree with your association of a snakeoilbsproduct with one based on solid engineering and a documentable and quantifiable performance difference...I'll leave it to the reader to figure which is which...

Cheers

How do they work? From memory I installed it between the metal case of the radio and a body earth. I never worked out how that could do anything at all except possibly give a secondary earth.

I think its somthing to do with helping suppressing the interferance from your alternator if its supressor goes faulty. Other than that its witchcraft.
