Odd vibration at startup
Hi everyone, before I start, I want to thank all contributors to this forum as it has been a little goldmine of information for me over the many years of Volvo ownership.
I have an '02 V70 Petrol, just passed the 210k and most work and service I manage myself. Recently I have noticed a strange vibration after ignition, the weird thing is, I cannot hear it under the hood, only when I'm sat inside the vehicle. I just cannot work out what it is and it seems to disappear after a few minutes of driving. I read on the US forum that it may be the mesh surrounding the down pipe to the exhaust, but I checked that and it seems okay. Can anyone shed any light on this bizarre noise? Many thanks |

Yep, hehe, I know which it is, I meant what should I look for, the rubber looks okay, not cracking nor deteriorated, would I need to jack the block from underneath to pull it apart and closely examine it?

Me again, I've just been out again, asked the wife to startup and had a really close inspection. You're a legend! It's torn right under the lip, not visible unless I stuck my thumb right in there and it actually slides about .5cm each way with some manipulation.
Do you think that would be it? |

There's another torque mount with perishable bushes underneath the engine/gearbox joining it to the subframe so check that too.

I've got a couple of axle stands, just reading the Haynes bible, it mentions a couple more mounts, I think I'll check them all, this might come up trumps
