Why not get something that does 167mph and 0-60 in 4.7 seconds in that case? Will hold its value better too :

https://www.kia.com/uk/new-cars/stinger/specification/

Looking at the 3.3 T-GDi just to clarify. Probably cheaper than the Euroblob, more unique and will make people think "WTF was that?" as it flies past them.

Have you seen the depreciation on the top end Stinger ? A lot worse than the Merc

Actually no, i was basing my thoughts on the general depreciation of the lower end Kia models that seem to hold their price well. A few years back a friend was considering a Kia Picanto and found the ones of the age she was looking at (3-4 years old) were all close to the price of a new one becausse they still had the (transferable) Kia 7 year warranty.

As such i'm surprised the Stinger depreciates so strongly, maybe when i win the lottery i won't buy one after all, just for something fast. Instead a Honda NSX (early one) for something fast......

My mate has the top end one and although it is fast ( no faster than the Merc estate though ) it looks incredibly cheap and nasty ! All the paint colours are awful ( his is like a cheap airfix kit grey ) and they just look cheap and slightly chavvy

If I want a fast estate it will be a T5R!

Heck the 960 3.0 24v I already have is fast enough. The boy racer that still lives in me loves flooring it.

On my way home today taking the back roads across the fens she had me beaming with joy.

I still remain surprized by the acceleration, road holding and handling - for a big heavy rear drive estate the ride is great even when hustling along and nudging, coff, coff the speed limit

Don't get me wrong I love my 940 turbo and old Volvo's in general but 0-60 in 9.2 seconds and 200hp isn't remotely fast by modern car standards.

Even a small Audi A1 can manage 7 odd seconds and 140 mph. A 1 series BMW can do 7 secs and just shy of 150 mph

They may or may not be as cool and retro as our 9 series but they are a hell of a lot faster !

Drop a more powerful engine into a 7/9xx and it'll be a hell of a lot quicker though! A Lexus LS400 V8 comes to mind as a donor, ok it's "only" 250bhp but propels its original host to 60 in about 6.5s so given the 7/9xx is about 500kg lighter, should get one to 60 a bit quicker. If memory serves top end is about 144mph on the standard LS400, factor in the weight etc of the original car and it should give a 7/9xx 150+mph capability.

I know but who needs super-duper fast when you can look super-duper cool

And you know everyone will hate you for giving in to "Big German Car Syndrome"

Modern Mercedes V8 is 612bhp and 0-60 in 3.5seconds. Also a Lexus engine in a Volvo means it's not a Volvo The only engine that should be in a 9 series is a Redblock Turbo anyway
