Quick, reliable service over the years, as well.

There was a spate of engine failures which Volvo determined were due to cold lubrication issues there's a TSB about it knocking around - I wouldn't be surprised if most cars affected are hybrids as they obviously have a much longer warm up cycle and can inadvertently thrashed cold if you've been driving on electrickery - but require a squirt of power from your still cold engine.

I wish there was an oil pressure gauge on these things so you can tell when it's warm! I also wish there was (perhaps user selectable) electronic limiting of available revs until the engine has warmed up. When driving a conventional car you know to take it easy for a few miles - with a charged hybrid you could still have a cold engine at the end of your journey! If I know I need to squirt it away from the lights hard enough to use the ICE, I always pop it into charge mode beforehand to make sure the engine is running before I subject it to load.

Now that is a very good argument in favour of 0/20 if only to save the turbo.

As Clan said they've developed it together so maybe it's simply a finer drag oil and perhaps something to do with it's ash content to reduce dpf blockages, it could also be the high pressure factor as well where if it's too thick it won't reach certain places and the flow will be blocked?

I don't recommend anyone tries to find out directly btw because if so you will save £30 and cost yourself £1000's if it all goes wrong.
another reason is getting the emissions down to the remarkably low levels they are. you can breath the exhaust gas with no noticeable effects , been there done that ! also the tail pipe stays like new for years

That's news to me and I work for them any details?

An oil pressure gauge wont tell you when its warm . Do you know how it works? It has a variable capacity altered by the ECU The oil warms up as fast as the coolant now in a few minutes due to the heat exchanger which volvo have had on their alloy engines since 1990.

i wouldn't worry about hybrids , just get in and drive how you wish volvo and all the other manufacturers have all angles covered .

For about a tenner you can get an ELM327 and the Carscanner pro app and have 'all da gauges innit' including oil pressure and oil temp. I have a magnetic mount for my phone so it sits on my centre console with needles galore! Just a gimmick really but you can't have too many gauges imo! I do actually like the gear number indicator...

Opie oils are always very well regarded so I would have no issue using them.

That said their website lists the incorrect gear oil for my 90. I used the chat window and the Opie rep confirmed my findings etc straight away so clearly knowledgable.

However I have a second car now and the oil listed for that is also incorrect.

So that’s 2 applications on 2 vehicles both incorrect. Frankly I also found the price similar to doscounted dealer stuff.

Maybe I have been unlucky?
