Does the Volvo On Call service included software updates like newer sat nav maps?

If you have Sensus you can download the updates from Volvo for free of charge.
Extract the file to a USB drive and once you insert the drive to the car the map will update.

If your car has an Android system and Google Maps you don't need to update it because it is online all the time (and up to date).

Phoned Volvo, apparrently there is already a subscription on the vehicle until FEb 2022 so they have set me up as the new owner.

I’ve just bought my first Volvo V90 D5 AWD2017 estate.
I’m very impressed with the build quality etc.

Iam trying to connect my IPhone to it so I could use my Waze app for navigation.
However, I could only connect via bluetooth or tethering from my phone. When I connect via lightening cable, it opens as an iPod and the USB on the console isn’t lit up!

Reading the manual, it says I could insert a SIM card in the modem near the spare wheel. I checked, I couldn’t see any slot in insert any cards!!

Can you help or advise pls?

To use Waze you will need Apple Car Play which was a cost option, likewise with Volvo On Call which was a cost option on certain models, which would provide a person sim modem. If you have a personal sim modem it will be right at the rear of the cargo area when you lift the floor, in the centre of the car, right behind the rear seats.

Regarding Apple Car Play/Android Auto, question, do you have 2 USB slots, one with a white border? If yes then the option is fitted, and may need to be selected in the Sensus screen, if no then the option was never specified, but can be dealer fitted. If you insert a memory stick the USB should light up, ie not greyed out otherwise it will detect your iPhone as a media player or iPod dependent on which you select in the Sensus screen.
