Default For Sale S40 T5 SE (2005) owned for 12 years!

I had never imagined selling my cherished T5 until January this year. As a family we needed a larger car for regular long-distance travel for 4 adults and looking at our current stock felt the time for a change was upon us.

After 2 months of anguish I am now listing below my S40 for sale and hoping it will move on to someone who will enjoy it as much as I have over the years.

Model: S40 T5 SE with Dynamic Chassis
Mileage: 113554
Year: 2005
MOT: Expiry 19 Jan 2022 (please feel free to check the online MOT history!)
Previous Keepers: First - Mill Garages (Stoneacre) Newcastle Volvo Demonstrator, Second - one private owner (first 4 years) then myself for the last 12 years
Colour: Flint Grey
Wheels: Volvo Sagitta 17"
Service History: Volvo Dealer for first 7 years, then Independent, then myself with fully documented receipts in a huge folder.
Body Care: Safe washed weekly, Clay Barred polished and waxed quarterly, car has never been smoked in or had any food eaten in it.
Tyres: Fronts = Michelin Pilot Sport 4 with plenty of even tread. Rears = Pirelli Cinturato P7 Blue with plenty of even tread.

Exterior: never damaged in my ownership, only minor superficial marks present consistent with age:

Interior: co-ordinating light Grey (I haven't seen many like this):

Engine bay - all original Factory Spec:

Volvo Sun Shades included:

Original (unused) Spare Wheel:

All wheels acid dipped and powder-coated in High-Power Silver in 2018, no 'curbing' marks only minor surface chips which I've touched in.

Headlamps clear (a spare set will be included following a ridiculous MOT in January):

All original Volvo books present:

Fully recorded Service History:

All receipts and invoices present:

Many Hunters Alignment's completed:

All previous Spark Plug sets present (changed every 2 years):

Free with the sale - a full Oil Service Kit:

The good stuff you want to know: (note most of this stuff has been replaced on a preventative basis for good maintenance).

Engine Oil and Filter changed with Quality oil every 12 months (max 10k miles and for last few years every 5k miles).
Fully working Air Conditioning with Automatic Climate Control.
4 x Bilstein B4 dampers fitted 2015 (81k miles).
2 x Rear Springs (Volvo OE) fitted 2013 (64k miles).
Cambelt and Water Pump replaced 2013 (63k miles).
Oil Breather Diaphragm and modified breather hose (Volvo) replaced 2012 (58k).
Engine Coolant Expansion Tank replaced 2013 (due to known cracking issue).
A/C Compressor replaced with new including Volvo Aux Belts 2014 (71k).
CV Boots replaced in 2015.
Lower front suspension Control Arms replaced 2018.
Lower engine Torque Mount replaced (OEM Focus RS upgrade) 2011.
Front suspension Top Mounts replaced 2015.
Upper Hydraulic Engine Mount replaced 2016.
Anti-roll bar drop links replaced 2019 (108k).
Front Wheel Bearings replaced 2019.
Rear Brake Calipers replaced 2017.
All brakes stripped, cleaned and lubricated with ProSlip products regularly for efficient operation.
Fuel Pressure Sensor replaced 2015.
Boost Pressure Sensor replaced 2019.
Turbo 'check' Valve replaced 2018.
Turbo 'control' Valve replaced 2018.
PAS Fluid Changed and Flushed 2020.
Gearbox oil changed 3 times for maintenance sake.
Cabin Filter replaced 2020 (Volvo OEM).
Volvo Battery fitted Oct 2020.
This car has never broken down and never displayed any warning lights in its life with me.

Free set of Winter Tyres included if wanted:

Other things to note (being as honest as I can):

The oil change is now due (there is a very valid reason I haven't been able to do this myself which I will explain to an interested buyer).

The rear offside door has to be unlocked manually (stays locked with remote).

Tiny area of paint wearing on rear upper surface of bumper (has been like this for 12 years!) possibly previous cosmetic repair, not scratched.

External Temperature sometimes reads low (swift tap to door card fixes this, never been a concern to me).

The roof lining is detaching in the 4 corners (bubble shape) but is not 'sagging' down badly overall.

The exhaust entry to the rear back box has a clean linear hole approx 30mm long which I repair with GunGum (even without repair it only makes a slight 'fluffing' sound) my repair sails though all MOT's but I would say there's plenty of tube thickness present to accept a small weld repair here.

Now onto the Price:

I am asking Ł1,850.00 ono.

Contact via PM or reply here, thank you for reading.

I can see you are like me, keeping every old part "just in case" and being OCD about precious car, respect for that, would buy that car off you in a hearbeat if I was looking for one. Genuine example of selling with a good will, hope next owner will appreciate it.
Good luck with sale!!

I forgot to say that the car is still on the original clutch which still feels really grippy and very smooth. I've always been very kind to the clutch, never sit with my foot resting on the pedal and never do fast starts etc.

(this was also a shameless - but informative - thread bumpage)

Great advert for what seems like a well loved well maintained car, I'd go as far as saying this seems an absolute bargain for someone looking for an entry level t5.

Amazing little example! Looks like its been well looked after and priced accordingly!

Shame it's got the ford/volvo lump installed. As if it had the 2.4(which I doubt they came with) I'd snapped it up

What is the difference? I have always considered the blown five pot a volvo lump, going back to the 850 in its evolution, am I wrong? Apologies for thread hi-jack!!

The engine is pure Volvo, it was Ford who pinched this engine for the Focus ST and certain Mondeo’s and Galaxy’s. It’s the compact low-friction 2.5T. It offers arguably better fuel economy than the 2.4 and benefits from all that lazy torque on tap.

Thanks again for the positive comments on the car, just looking forward to someone seeing it for themselves.

Good luck with sale, I am between Volvos as I always am when I don't own one but won't be looking for a car for a few months yet.
