I have 5 cars on my Admiral multicar policy and I've always found them to be very competitive

Insurance is based on an individual's circumstances and a company can be competitive for one and not another. Several years ago I tried Admiral for a multi car policy and they were not at all competitive.

As others have said: there doesn't seem to be any logic at times. Our house renewal came through the other day - nothing had changed, yet the renewal was £300 less than last year. My wife realised that she had not informed them of her retirement in the last year, so rang to update the details. 'That will be £30 off the premium madam' came the reply. When she queried it, the reason was that now we are both retired the house will be unoccupied far less in the daytime than when we were working. Still didn't get an answer why renewal was £300 less.

Possibly because they haven't had to pay out so much in the past couple of years and they can afford to drop the premium which makes them more competitive and gains/keeps business (I don't subscribe to the school of thought that all insurers are total rip off merchants). Just like they reckon as a retiree you'll be at home more of the time as a human burglar deterrent, the number of people working from home during lockdown possibly reduced the opportunity for naughty people to break in?

I have a 2 car multi policy with full no claims on both vehicles. Each year on renewal with My Aviva it has increased accordingly with the present market. When I question the increase by phone they adamantly refuse to negotiate the quoted price. Is this experienced by other My Aviva customers?

+1 for Admiral multicar. Five cars in my name an one in my sister’s at a different address. Need to bear in mind that it will co-terminate all your renewal dates which will mean if you want to go back to separate policies you’ll have to take out (and pay for) them all at the same time.
