Its on my want list, having had it on a previous Volvo, I think the limited over boost for torque will be very useful on the XC90 B5D, especially on the motorway.
Insurance is due on my cars this October and with my current insurance company refusing to cover the car if I add it, I might look at alternative options at that time.
If the cost of the 2 cars and cover remain similar with the Polestar added, I will be very tempted(subject to not being bankrupt by the new energy tariffs!)

Would be interested to hear of your experience should you go ahead, Ian. Will watch this space.

I note our local dealer has the same offer on at the mo, too.

All that for nothing. My insurer (Direct line) will not cover me for the Polestar Optimisation.
Nightmare.

Volvo should just put it in the car at the factory and charge a bit extra. Would save all this messing about.

Try Volvo insurance (expensive, but will insure for sure) or LV. They were not bothered at all when I added polestar tuning to my V90 D5.

Esure also cover polestar optimisation for a modest increase in your premium.

I had it applied before I took delivery, and although AA insurance insisted it be declared as a performance enhancement, they didn't hike the price.

Move to LV last year and they didn't care. Said if it was on car when I took delivery of it, then they didn't need to know.

I put my details into their website and the price increase was approx £120 for a "Chip" modification.
This brought the cost to around £140 shy of what I currently pay for 2 cars.

I have to wait another 5 or 6 weeks to see what my renewal quote will be, which might push me to shop around further.

I spoke to Esure via the call centre last year before I had the optimisation applied. The call handler then checked with their supervisor, and then the underwriter and the quote came down a fair bit. The call handler had no idea what Polestar was. It was a bit of a hassle but worth it as via the website the only option is to declare it as a chip modification.

This year the renewal quote was virtually the same as last year, so I've stayed with them for the next year.

Definitely worth shopping around. Good luck.

Hi , can you please give a review . how is it now?

I have no idea why Volvo do not offer this as standard.

I would like Polstar but I really couldn’t be hassled with the yearly polava come insurance renewal.
